We're going to talk
about the Doomsday trailer.
Which is kind of funny because that's
kind of like the same thing.
Interesting.
In some ways.
Interesting.
So both Avengers Doomsday is coming out
soon and also chosen
season six to crucifixion
season, which is like, it's kind of a
doomsday in a sense.
It probably felt like a doomsday.
Oh, for sure.
The earthquake.
Oh.
Well, and for the disciples to believe
that this was the son of
man and they just nailed
him to a cross and
they're like, wait a second.
Like you think they were struggling?
Like, is this?
Well, of course they were.
That's why they denied him.
Well, Peter, Peter denies Jesus because.
Yeah, but they all,
they all philateics ever.
John.
Yeah.
Like John's the only one that
showed up to the crucifixion.
Everyone else went into hiding because
they thought they were next.
And then Peter was like, who Jesus, who?
It's like 80 miles away
or something like that.
80 miles away.
Well, it might be too far.
Well, when he denies them, it's, it's
before the crucifixion.
It's after he's arrested.
Right.
It's after.
So he wasn't even cruising.
Yeah.
He hadn't begun.
It was before being brought because
they're like, Hey, he knows him.
No, no, I don't know.
It's because Jesus said like, I would
tell you like three
times you will deny me before
the cock froze.
I think, I think somebody I was reaching,
I was watching a thing and I think it was
like 80 miles away.
That's where he was.
So you went back to fishing or whatever
and Jesus found them.
Yeah.
Cause they went through the whole thing
again of like, throw out your net.
But then they, they race
back to the empty tomb.
Not all of them.
Not all of them.
But there's a race with Peter.
John races Peter, I
think in the book of John.
And I think it's particularly funny
because yes, we can, we
can like three or four of
the translations.
It's just, they both race.
And then in John's, it's
like, I got there first.
The one, the one Jesus
loved got there first.
He had to write it down
that, that particular way.
I think it's, I think that's so funny.
And if you haven't figured it out yet,
today on We Who Endure,
we're going to be talking
about the season six
trailer for The Chosen.
I'm Blaine O'Neill.
I'm Blaine O'Neill.
I'm Dustin Smith.
See Smith.
Dustin C. Smith.
Did you find it?
Yeah, it was, it was Peter.
So it was Peter.
Yeah, that's what I thought.
I recently read it.
So that was, that was a
little fresher in my mind.
I read it.
I didn't read it on Reddit
though, but I did read it.
You read it, edited it.
Mm-hmm.
At least you didn't read it, edited it.
Well you guys haven't watched The Chosen.
I've watched a few seasons.
Oh really?
Oh, I thought you watched nothing.
No, I, I, I got like three,
maybe I'm on fourth season.
Okay.
I'm not, I just kind of, there's some
parts where I'm just
kind of like, nah, I don't
really, yeah.
Why?
We getting into it now?
Yeah, why not?
Okay.
Um, there was just some like discrepancy
things that I just kind
of like, it was, it was one
thing like I can, I can watch it or I can
read about it and like
it's, sure it's entertaining.
Like you kind of know what it's, you're
kind of going to it, but
there's like a few things
and I see both sides of it.
So like the one thing that kind of got me
at first was during
the sermon on the Mount.
What season is that one?
I don't know.
I think it's four.
Is that four?
Okay.
So maybe I'm on four.
Um, before the sermon on the Mount, he,
you know, he asks, um,
Matthew to look over his
notes for him.
Oh, I remember you.
I remember you discussing this now.
Yeah.
And like, like asking,
like, does this okay?
Which like on one hand you're kind of
like, why would Jesus need help?
You know, doing it.
But at the other hand, you're like, for
the story's sake in the
show, it's to give him
confidence to like allow Matthew to feel
like Jesus needs him
help and I'm, you know, like
he needs me.
And so like, it was almost like, almost
like when you have like
a small child or like,
here help me fix the car, but you really
don't need the person's
help, but you just kind
of let them help.
So I kind of saw his
let them help as well.
But I don't know.
It's just, it's all right.
Like I, I like the show.
I'm not like super Uber fan, like of it,
like following like
every little thing about it.
Um, I think that it, um, it's a great
tool, a great way to get
people talking and to get
on board.
Like, like I want to say before.
Like last summer when I went off on
vacation, you know, we
were talking about a different
kind of podcast, but I think around that
time you were watching
the chosen or maybe you
had just started or a few
seasons in kind of catching up.
And then when I came back, you're on fire
and you're like, let's
do a Christian podcast.
And I'm like, Oh, that's cool.
So like, I think it helps get people
talking helps people
kind of get on fire and also
seeking.
But, um, I think with everything, it's
all, it's always good to
remind those to also seek
out what's behind it.
If that makes sense.
Like, because obviously there's a lot of
liberties with it being
Hollywood or being a project
because you have to flush out the stories
where like it probably
could be told in maybe
a season.
It could I, and I disagree with, with
that being Hollywood
because it's a very independent
production right?
I just think that Dallas Jenkins is doing
and it's obviously
it's liberties to be able
to do it, um, in a way
that is long form like this.
So it's, it's very intentional in the way
that, uh, this was
executed and it was, it's
really interesting I think because, you
know, just for me as
somebody who has read the Bible,
it's such broad strokes.
You don't get to really know the
disciples, you know,
Matthew was a tax collector, you
know, Peter was a, was a fisherman.
So it's interesting to, to think about
what were these real
people like in these real
life situations and it, and it gives us
the opportunity to
bond with these characters
and then, you know, kind of leading into
the season six thing, I
think it's going to make
the crucifixion that much more impactful
because we have
something like the passion of the
Christ, right?
Right. That was probably one of arguably
one of the best and
most accurate depictions of
the crucifixion.
It was very, very brutal.
And let's be real, it was the whole
purpose of that movie was to show how
brutal the crucifixion
was.
Right.
Because the only experience you have on
that is like figural
pictures of Jesus on the cross
and you're like, Oh, okay.
He's saying, and very PG interpretation.
Right.
And that's fine.
But this is like, Hey, this is probably
what it looked like.
And that's, you know,
it's, it's a bit eyeopening.
So now to kind of do that, even if we do
the similar with, with
this version of Jesus,
if you will, right, with these versions
of the disciples and
stuff and how they're going
to be dealing with it, I think, I think
it'd be really, really powerful.
I'm just saying it'd be really neat.
Yeah.
No, I'm just, I'm just saying like kind
of my point is just to
be cautious, you know,
not, not saying like, like my point is.
I'm not trying to say that chosen is bad
because I do like the show.
I'm just saying for the casual viewer or
someone getting to the
point where instead of say
quoting scripture, they go, Oh, that
reminds me of the scene in
the chosen when this happened
in this happened.
Yeah.
Honestly, I think
you're too hung up on that.
And I think there's a lot of people like
on the internet who are
very, very down on what
this is trying to accomplish.
And they're so worried about that.
Like, just let this happen.
Like there's, there's
good coming out of this.
Now is there going to be
bad coming out of that?
Maybe something like that.
Yeah, absolutely.
I'm just saying like misquoting something
or just being something
because you're fleshing
out a character or your, um, or someone
that isn't even there.
And that's fine.
I'm just saying that it's, it's just
something to where at the
end of the day, like the order
of things, like it's a
good supplemental piece.
It's a good way into talking about the
Bible, a good way into
bringing people to Christ
and having that discussion through that
visual manner and watching it, not just
for an entertainment
purpose, but also like,
I agree with you like it.
It puts that out there in a way that you
can see it, but just to
be careful to make sure
where it's coming from.
So like you see something you're, you get
passionate about
something that you're watching
or that you see like in a certain episode
and then to go back
and read in the Bible.
And that's all I'm saying is just, well,
I think you use it as
a study tool to kind
of fire you out exactly.
That's the whole point.
And nobody, nobody ever said it was
anything beyond that.
Well, I think there's, I think you always
have to be cautious
with anything like, like
this, whether it's a show or
a movie or even like church.
Right.
I mean, especially like when you see
things online, even if
it's like reels or especially
mega churches, you know, you always gotta
be cautious with those
because 98% of it could
be true.
But then there's this 2% that could put
some askew to it that
could create the truth to
be kind of warped.
I'm not saying that that's what the
chosen is, but I think with anything.
There's always that risk because at the
end of the day, not only
does something that is.
Like a movie or a TV show does it has to
have some sort of entertainment value.
So there, there's always going to be some
sort of like, we want to try to do this.
And even though it might not be in the
Bible, that you kind
of have to keep it true.
But on the flip side, you
don't want to make it seem off.
And then obviously whoever's doing it,
their doctrine has to be right.
And we all know that I know that what I
think about everything
in the Bible, I know I'm
not right.
I might, I might even
have like 98% of it, right.
And you might have 98% of it, right.
You might have 98% of it, right.
But the 2% that we all have wrong is just
a completely different 2%.
And I think when you're making a film,
obviously I don't think it
only comes down to like the
director or the writers.
It has to be a group.
And when you're sitting in a room and I'm
sure their, their,
their hearts are hopefully
in the right place.
But you got to think if they're 2% wrong,
2% wrong, 2% wrong, 2%
wrong sitting in a room,
how much, how much are they going to get?
That's like a little like, eh, because
there is a team of
writers just, oh, I know there
is. Yeah.
But at the end of the day, they do have
to make a final decision is my point.
And I think it's hard to kind of make
that decision and
there's so much to go on about
it.
So it's hard to kind of nitpick, but I
also kind of feel like
similar way just because
there are certain things that if you're
going to take a liberty
with, you have to be extra
careful. But as a consumer, it is also,
like I said, no different
than you going to a church
and you hear a word and it's great.
And sure, your, your pastor might be
great for 70 straight,
you know, Sundays, you're
like, yeah, I agree with everything.
And then sometimes
you're like, wait a minute.
And that's OK.
Like, again, not everyone gets it right.
Well, that's what I always call no
different with like the
chosen is you have to have some
discernment when it
comes to things like that.
But that's ultimately,
that's that's what my point is.
That was a really long way of I was
getting at was that's with anything.
Right. You know, I know.
I'm just I'm just yeah, I'm
just trying to reiterate that.
I get it for me.
I haven't watched it just because there's
a couple of things that
I've seen and it's nothing
against it, but it's just nothing that
has like really caught
me to like want to do it
because I personally would just rather
read the Bible and have
nothing against the chosen.
But it's just like if I'm going to sit
there, I'd rather just.
Yeah, instead of taking hours, I don't
know how long the seasons
are, but I'd rather just
read the Bible.
And honestly, I come I'm very I'm very
impressed with with how
accurate it is even in the
editions, because the the development of
the characters and the
right the sub stories,
there's still like a biblical truth.
Well, there's biblical and there's also
historical because
they also do the research.
So making sure like during that time, so
you're not you're not
having this group of people
that like didn't live in that region kind
of be a part of the
story and just with the
clothing, everything else.
Like they've done a really
fantastic job with a lot of it.
And you know, what's what I think is
particularly cool is
sorry, my elbow hurts.
I hurt myself.
Some of the details that I'm not going to
say that they more focus
on but have to be there
made me realize it was in the Bible.
Yeah, you know, and the two things come
to mind was the the women
that are following them.
That's like one or two like it was like
throw away vert not
that they're throw away.
But you know, I mean, like it's just such
a glossed over fact,
like no one ever pays
attention to them. And then also, I
honestly never noticed.
And I think I've said this before in this
podcast is when Jesus
is flipping tables in I
think the version in John
says that he has a whip.
And when I saw that scene, I was like,
you didn't have a rip.
I was OK.
I went right to the Bible
and I was like, oh, wow.
And that's my that's my challenge.
Like when watching is like like because
with everything like
you're saying, like hitting on
your point with with sermons and church
and things like that,
like we should always be
guarding our heart. We're
told to guard our hearts.
So like I'm just saying at the same time
I'm watching the show,
you should guard your heart
and not just take it for what it is just
to have it being kind
of spoon fed to you.
Right. Because because even even Dallas
said like it was he
was quoted interviews and
95 percent of whatever is
made up or it's what it is.
But he's like, but it has the biblical
truth behind it like as
like a foundation and it's
exploring of everything else.
He says, you know, at the end, so like.
I appreciate that he's he's saying and
then they even do
they still have the same.
They had the thing before the show starts
a little as far as I know.
I just don't remember
because it will always like skip.
I know. I know it was in the
beginning of the first episode.
I remember that's every season.
Yeah, I wasn't sure if they continued or
if it just I've only watched it once.
So I don't I don't remember.
I know it was there at the
beginning of the first episode.
I was like, oh, that's and I was like,
wow, that's really cool.
Well, that that that was that that makes
it more meaningful, I think.
And so I'm glad they did that.
And so and so now now I would say for
anyone who's listening,
if you haven't watched
The Chosen and you get into it like it's
great to binge and with that disclaimer.
You know, that's to me, it's fresh in
your mind when you're watching it.
If you start you start right now, like my
wife and I binged it
in like about a month
seasons one through five.
And now here we are
ready for for season six.
What's also kind of hard is so usually
when you are binging, right?
It always has play next episode and it
usually goes past the.
The starting credits and usually starts
the episode or does it
play the I can't remember.
Does it play the whole credits to it does
well, because it plays a.
There's a soft open.
Yeah, there's a soft open and then that
has the title sequence, right?
The option to skip.
So maybe it has that thing on there and
then when you're playing the next
episode, it's skipping
pass, maybe that disclaimer.
As I remember, and I could be wrong and
obviously we could Google it.
It's either the beginning of the first
season or it's the
beginning of every season.
OK, gotcha.
I could be wrong.
Don't quote me on that.
But that's if I had to guess, that's what
I recall having watched
it once about a year ago.
Well, yeah, I almost want to think like
because really they could
just do it the first season
because he's really going to jump into
like season five unless without seeing
the first four seasons.
No, you got it.
You got to start from.
That's what I mean.
That's what I mean.
So like you don't necessarily need it
because like if you're
going to watch the show, you're
probably going to start
at the beginning of it.
And I fully think I
think it's the first episode.
It ends with like the first time Mary
Magdalene finds Jesus and
the way they set it up like she
goes, she goes into like
a building or something.
Something like that.
She like she like comes out and like she
she has her back turn.
Then Jesus is Mary and she turns around
and see them like this is
going to be a callback for the
empty tomb way down the road.
Like I'm telling you
like this, they set that up.
They want anyway.
Calling that calling that now.
We may not know till season seven or
that's going to be the
last part of season six.
I'm telling you.
And speaking of season six,
I've seen, I'm all caught up.
Maybe let's start with Lance because he
has, he's only seen reels and stuff.
What initial initial
reactions to the trailer.
Okay.
Gotcha.
Sorry.
It looks fine.
I guess.
I'm partially worried.
I just, it's such a big event
that I hope they don't ruin it.
Well, because I feel like you
could mess it up really bad.
Well, they're playing season six, like a
season of 24 because it's
based in all season six,
supposed to be just one day.
I thought it is not what like, I thought
I was looking at an
interview with James, Mr.
Jenkins, like it was like, and this is a
season where the events of all of season
six is just that one day.
Is it one day?
Or cause in, in the
trailer, they have them arrested.
Is it one day or like one week?
Is it one week?
Well, when it isn't
like a next day thing.
So like they arrest them that night and
then that day they throw
them up in front of everybody.
And then they go through it all.
And isn't it like a, this doesn't
transpire in 24 hours.
I don't, I don't, I could be wrong.
I don't think so.
I think it's, I think they arrest him.
They put him in jail.
He's tried the next day.
Okay.
Brought before the Sanhedrin.
So maybe it's a week.
Doesn't say anything.
And then I think they put them in jail
again because they
keep going back and forth.
Well, it can't be too long because you're
going from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday.
So it's, I mean, yeah, it
might be, it might be a week.
Yeah.
So I think it's a week, not a day.
Cause cause some of these other things
were maybe something, maybe the other
one, maybe the other ones a day.
And then it could
have the like the music.
I mean, I think I assume since most of it
has been pretty spot on accurate, right?
That they would, they wouldn't do
something as silly as like the disciples
all being there or you know what I mean?
Like there's just so
much that you could do that.
I guess I would be like concerned about
doing, obviously they don't
want to show everything because
I feel like they showed a lot already.
Like I, I can't believe we saw him with
the crown of thorns.
They teased him on the cross with the,
with the blood on the, I think that's
from the whipping post.
I don't think because he's
on, he's on Golgotha, right?
It's not a wooden platform.
It's, it's in the ground.
I've seen the cross.
There's a platform.
Is there a platform on
the, from the set photos.
So that I'm pretty sure
that's from below the cross.
I took it as that was from the, from when
he was tied to the post from what I have
seen from behind the scenes stuff.
I'm pretty sure that's what it is.
I think, but they showed the post too.
I think there's sand around it.
Okay.
That's just not how I envisioned it.
Yeah.
But okay.
Cool.
I think it was the craziest thing I
thought that they showed in the trailer
was Judas holding the rope.
Oh, for the news.
And walking.
What is this?
Not to kind of derail
it, but what is this rated?
I have no idea.
Well, that's, that's a great question.
Um, you think it'd be
rated higher for the season?
I think, well, no.
Um, I think even up until now, different
episodes have had different ratings.
Okay.
That makes sense.
Each episode has its own rating and the
season finale is going to
be released in theaters.
So I'm assuming we might get an R rated.
Like a TV MA type situation.
Well, I mean, the passion
of the Christ was rated R.
True.
Yeah.
I don't know.
But is that necessary?
I think so because it's the same reason
it was necessary for the whole, what I
just said was the whole reason behind the
passion of the Christ movie is
how brutal the crucifixion is.
So yes, I do think it's necessary because
this is, I really think this will be the
last time we'll ever get an adaptation of
this where it's, it could be meaningful.
And then that's going to be it.
Because you're saying no one else is
going to do it again.
I think we're running out of time.
I mean, I don't think you're wrong.
I think there's only four
to six years in my opinion.
There's only so many times we can redo
the crucifixion and
have it be as impactful.
Cause I mean, what
passion was 25 years ago, 20.
Yeah.
Around there.
23, 22.
It was 24 years ago.
Cause I know how old I was.
Yeah.
I was one of those ones where like you
buy the movie and then,
but you never watch it again.
Like I'm just like, cause you watch it
that one time and
you're just kind of like,
I didn't watch it until last year.
Really?
Yeah.
Okay.
I remember I had, I watched it in the
thing in the theater and just the, just
the pounding and just
everything else is very intense.
That's what my wife was saying.
It's like when they're pounding it and
you're watching the theater, like you
just, you feel it in your part.
It was so like,
Basie.
Um,
how was it?
Uh, the one, one part that I liked on the
trailer is the, um, when he's looking
back at Judas, when he's walking, just
kind of like, what's up bro.
You know, like you just,
like, you know, like thanks man.
Like you had to do like
he, I know it was you.
Right.
Well yeah.
Well, I mean, he told him it was you
like, during the last supper, right?
Because he just goes,
do what you need to do.
Saying like, you know, and then.
I don't know.
It's just, it's crazy to me to think
about just in general thinking about
Judas being around this man, but being so
the way it was to be corrupted, to be
tempted, to be, to kind of betray, you
know, just to, just to have
that and to be that person.
Like, obviously that's why he, you know,
himself from a tree,
you know, um, not to get,
censored, um, I remembered, I remembered,
but, um, because like that
guilt would be so immense.
Just to,
One, obviously he's, they
are all under attack, right?
You, you know, that God's there that
literally the dev, not just
demons, the devil is there.
And he even talks about how the devil
then entered him in the Bible, right?
So it didn't say a demon entered him and
said the devil, right?
So, and they, and they say
that they have Jesus say that too.
And he right before Jesus
goes, he says, he has you now.
And he Jesus, Judas
goes, who he says, not God.
And he's like, and he leaves.
And I think between that and then
obviously there's the whole, you know,
it's going to be better for it.
It's going to be better
that he was never born.
Then what it's going to happen to him
after he dies is like, that's probably
like, imagine someone,
imagine God saying that about you.
Like that's, it's better than he was.
It would have been
better that he was never born.
That's really, it's, it's heartbreaking.
And, and what, to your point of all of
the disciples to sort of
explore, because aside from Judas.
You know, the rest are kind of
hypothetical, right?
You know, Matthew's tax collector.
Okay.
So they're, they're doing this like kind
of like autistic thing, but with Judas.
Where we know that the way to go is to
explore the psychology of you believe
this is God, but then maybe
you're kind of questioning it.
And now what's, what's the struggle here?
What's, what did you go through to,
what'd you think in your mind to be like,
you know what, I'm going to sell him.
And then, and there's even a
conversation, I think in season five
where they're like, well, if you believe
he's the son of God,
like, why are you doing this?
He's like, well, I do believe that.
And if he is, he's
going to get through it.
And, uh, if he doesn't,
then I guess I was wrong.
Well, and then I don't, I could be wrong
just from what I was watching.
Cause I think I'm in the season where
Judas was introduced.
Yeah.
That's, they introduced him late.
It's right.
Yeah.
It's right.
It's right around the
Sermon on the Mount, right?
He comes at the Sermon on the Mount.
Yeah.
And then, so like, I see him as almost
like a businessman
looking for like opportunities.
And that was, that was interesting.
And it's almost like he has that I want
it now type persona.
How like a lot of
Christians are like, I want it now.
And then, and not
patiently waiting on the Lord.
And so it's almost like he wasn't patient
and became impatient.
And then the devil played on that.
Yeah.
That's a, that's a, that's a great point.
And so like, so adding that businessman
thing, which I don't think, um, they,
they ever said one way or another, like
that's a very interesting
origin to set that all up.
Also think from what they've portrayed
from what I've seen, it was, it's also a,
you know, you believe these things and
you've even seen these things.
You've seen these miracles.
You've even performed these miracles, but
you can't still cannot let it go and
like, let God be like,
you want to do it your way.
And it's not his way.
Like you need to understand
that faith isn't your way.
It is letting it go and letting, letting
God do what he wants to do.
Stop trying to be in
control of everything.
But Lance, you know what, you know, what
you said earlier was
you're wrong about the 2%.
Um, in at least, at least
in the chosen, I don't know.
I don't know if they really explicitly
say like what Judas's issue was, but he's
really hung up on the part where they
think what Judas thinks, um, that the
Messiah is going to come and like free
them from the Romans.
He's going to be like
a warrior and whatever.
And he's,
he's waiting for that to do something.
And he's like, he just does.
He can't wrap his head around why, if, if
Jesus is like, why is he not fulfilling
that coming to free them from the, from
the Romans and the so like he has this
vision of what the
Messiah is supposed to be.
And he's, he's wrong about that.
And he couldn't let that, that 2% go.
Right.
You know, and that's a,
that's a bad 2% to be wrong.
Shouldn't went with whole milk.
I switched back to home.
That's 4%.
Is that 4%?
Yes.
Really?
That's the only difference.
2%.
There's 2%, 1%, 0%, which is skim milk.
And then there's 4% skim milk is gross.
Yeah.
Skim milk is watered down milk.
4% is essentially whole milk.
Okay.
Interesting.
Whole milk is a weird term for that
because it's so well, because it has to
be separated from all
that like cream and stuff.
Anyway, you know what I mean?
Cause like, that's where, like, can we
have like heavy cream?
Like buttermilk.
Well, buttermilk is
adding an additional butter.
No, you had to go through the butter
process and like butter.
Milk, I thought was the milk.
I could be wrong, but I thought butter
when you make, when you separate the,
when you're trying to make the milk, the
butter, the, the milk, the, the liquid
that comes up from the top during that
process is, is a butter milk.
I believe that's what it is.
So, so, so it's the excess from making
butter becomes the buttermilk and makes
wonderful ranch dressing.
Yes.
I make some good ranch.
And destroys me being lactose intolerant.
Absolutely.
And for, for the record, they're looking
at me because I hate ranch.
It's one of the only things I just
actively do not like, but he likes sour
cream and mayonnaise,
but you know, which is just
just missing the dill and the buttermilk.
Honestly, like I, in the vinegar, it
doesn't, it doesn't make sense.
And he loves vinegar.
I love vinegar.
So you, he loves still.
He loves every, he likes 90% of the
ingredients, but together
with your power combined.
There's something that,
that makes me gag something.
When I just, I think you had a melon
experience probably had some bad ranch or
you could, there's, there's
probably bad, like, oh yeah.
And if you have homemade ranch, oh my
gosh, you get this stuff from that.
Yeah.
I like making the homemade.
We got it.
We got to move my stomach just literally.
Well, so I looked at, I liked butter.
Um, I looked up this song
that's playing throughout.
So it's a hymn.
Oh, I can't, I can't
say I paid much attention.
Well, that's why you got me.
Um, when I survey the wondrous cross,
that's what's playing behind.
Interesting.
I'll have to look, I'll
have to look that one up.
So, um, yeah.
So cause I was listening to the lyrics to
see how it kind of tied in with whether
it's like literal with what's going on,
but like with the wondrous cross.
The idea that you're taking this thing
that is horrendous, but yet we don't
worship it, but like we're using it as a
symbol to, because it's our salvation,
because the end result because of it is
we have our salvation.
That kind of reminds me of that, that
reel that we shared on the
episode that we never aired out.
And I don't think that we ended up
re-sharing it, but it talks about how,
you know, the worst thing that we ever
did ever was kill the son of man.
Right.
And yet God somehow made that the best
thing that ever happened.
And only God could do that.
Only God can take the worst thing ever
and make it the best thing ever.
And whenever everyone's going through,
whether it's the worst thing, like he can
make it turn to the best thing.
And I think that's what's so awesome
about the moment is like, it's terrible
and it's awful, but at the same time,
that is my sins on there.
That is your sins, that is laid sins.
It's just, it's such a powerful moment.
It's so awesome.
Yeah.
That's, and you know,
that's, that's typical of, of God.
Um, the blessing always
comes after the storm.
It's in, it's in the storm.
So when the storm comes, I, uh, you know,
I was reading some, uh, devotional, I
think the other day, you know, it's like,
you can be in this valley and the storm
could come and it's just, it's just dark
and it's storming and you know,
everything's all flooding and you know,
things are being torn up.
And you might think this is it, but the
next morning you come back and the
flowers are blooming and there's
beautiful dew on the, on the grass and
there's lighting and you're like, how is
this the same place?
And like there, there it is.
And this would not be
possible without the storm.
And then at the end, um, he's saying
three of his last seven words.
Yes.
So he, he only, you know, it's only him
saying father forgive them, which, um, to
me, like just kind of thing, it's, it's a
callback, not only to the sermon on the
Mount or all his sermons is he's still
reiterating in his last breath.
Father forgive them, like showing that
kindness, showing that
forgiveness, even to your enemies.
And then obviously the rest of his, like,
for they know not what they do, but, um,
it's also fulfilling one more of those
prophecies from the old Testament.
So like, and, um, I, I don't, I'm not
gonna read the whole chapter, but the end
of, um, Isaiah 53 12, um, it says, um,
made intercession for the transgressors.
Wow.
So he's personally interceding for those
that put him on the cross, those that
called for his death
over Brabbus, you know?
And so it's just, even in his darkest
hour and even whatever, he's still
showing his love for his people.
And, and, and, you know, that's, and
that's the example that
we're supposed to strive for.
Right.
Like if people whipped you and nailed you
to a piece of wood, could
you sit there and forgive them?
You know, like, how
difficult would that be?
Like, can you even fathom that?
We can't even forget.
It's so hard to forgive people just based
on their own views or if they cut you off
and on the highway, like, uh,
and you, and you carry that.
You're like that, that guy who, yeah, I
should have said so much as it is.
Yeah.
Like, no, like, let it go.
And I might, I might've quote, I might've
quoted this, uh, in, in previous episodes
and no, it's not biblical, but it's, I
believe it's, it's still sound.
It's like, do not go to war with
something without heaven on your side.
Meaning like being in the right, you
know, if somebody cuts you
off, does you wrong, like, right.
Forgive them.
Being the right, but
not in an arrogant way.
Well, you know, of, of, well, no, no,
proper being the proper right.
No, absolutely.
The right thing.
Yes.
A hundred percent.
That's, that's what I mean.
And that's, and that's not always easy,
you know, and that's something probably
everybody struggles with.
Uh, any other, any other thoughts on
this, on this trailer before we, before I
wrap it up, one thing, one thing I would
like to mention, um, I like how brutal
the crown of thorns looks like.
Cause I obviously I like crucifixes, you
know, like the crown of thorns is like,
I hate to say one of my favorite symbols
of the crucifixion,
but you know what I mean?
But like, I, we even got
it on a shirt and the merch.
That was why, that was one of the first
things that I, that I wanted to do.
But, but when I, when I had you design
it, like I remember telling like, I want,
I want the thorns long and thin.
Like I, I don't like it when it's like
these, these short little thorns.
No, like a road, like a rosebush thorn.
Like, okay.
Yeah.
Yes.
And that would, and
that would hurt terrible.
But like, no, it was, they were long.
Yeah.
Those, those things were.
They pierced.
Yeah.
You know, like we need to appreciate how
brutal that thing is.
Well, and then like, I remember seeing a
real where you see the traditional, like,
almost like a ring, like a crown, but I
was watching someone on a, I don't know
if it was a talk show
or maybe another podcast.
I'm not sure.
But where they're saying the crown and
actually more like a helm.
Yeah.
So it's like,
and I, and I like, I like that one too.
But visually the other one looks more
because that's just kind
of how I remember or I,
well, I think, I think introduced to.
Yeah.
Like the, especially like old Catholic
imagery has depicted on.
So we're, we're, we're very used to the,
um, what, what would you call it?
Um, the band style, if you will.
But yeah, but I have seen that, that,
that rubicon like, but
that, that's scarier.
Right.
Coming from, yeah.
Cause that's now it's not just all up in
here, but I did appreciate that it was a
little in between because it seemed like
it was thick, not like a thin one, but
like it, it took up like the depth of his
forehead, uh, which was
pretty, pretty brutal.
But I did also appreciate that when I
don't remember any interpretation up
until now doing this was showing them
making the crown of thorns.
I thought that was kind of interesting.
Obviously it's not necessary, but we're
trying to fill a whole season, right?
It was kind of, it's kind of interesting
to see the, probably the, the probably a
backstory of that guy making it.
And how it's true.
It's just for the bush.
Yeah.
I'm sure it's also for
dramatic effect, right?
Like they're getting prepared.
You're like, what is that?
What are they doing?
I don't know.
But I think it's just still interesting
to see and kind of think about, it's just
one of those things like, wow, like
somebody had to sit there.
Well, because it's like
an added element, right?
Because it's not like
that's part of the procedure.
There isn't like this Roman doctrine
where they're like, they're like, first
do this now make a crown.
Like they did it because he was the king
of the Jews, you know, and
they really wanted to mock him.
Right.
Cause they gave him his, his robe and his
thing and presented them.
And then they put the sign.
Yeah.
I N R I, I know the abbreviation.
I don't know how to say,
how to say it in the Hebrew.
It's gotta be Hebrew, right?
It doesn't matter.
Comment.
Coffee.
What coffee coffee.
Oh, you brew.
Got it.
Got it.
Sorry.
And any other thoughts on the trailer
before we wrap this up?
Um, no, that should be good.
I thought it was kind of fun.
Like, um, I like to
look at comments sometimes.
I, I, yeah, I know.
But, um, cause I was just curious what,
you know, fans were thinking guilty of
that in certain situations.
I didn't do it for this though.
So I just looked cause like, you know,
people are excited for it, but like some
of the comments were just like, I've been
waiting for this for so long.
Like you've been waiting
to watch this crucifer.
Like, I don't know.
I'm like, is it excitement because you
know, it's been building up to this point
or is it excitement of like the actual,
like, I didn't know
how to take the comment.
Like it was like someone's just like,
I've been waiting for this for so long.
Well, I think because
it's as horrible as it is.
There is still
beautiful at the same time.
Like it's terrible, but it's also the
greatest thing that ever happened.
So, and the sacrifice and obviously if
done correctly, him kind of going in
silence, obviously still says what he
says on the cross, but basically doesn't
say anything besides that.
I mean, being mocked, casting, spoiler
alert, spoiler alert.
They showed a scene from season six.
It was unfinished.
It was like a special thing.
And I think it's, it's when he's brought
before the Sanhedrin question, he doesn't
say anything, right?
Isn't that what a Bible is?
That's the scene they showed and they're
like, do you have anything to say?
And they cut down.
He's like, he's just sitting there.
Yeah.
He doesn't say a word.
That's good.
So that's, that's coming.
Yeah, it's good.
I just, I hope it kind of stays like that
where it's, you know, he's no talking
back or anything, you
know, or anything like that.
But.
Well, I did, I did see, and I'll add this
one point cause I was looking at
interviews or now I was reading an
article that there was an argument
between what's the
guy's name that plays Jesus.
Jonathan Rumi.
So Rumi had an argument with, with, um,
and I just for blanked on the name of,
uh, with the director and then as well as
like with the writers, Dallas Jenkins,
Dallas Jenkins, thank you.
Um, about like one of the scenes where it
kind of showed him like having a
lighthearted conversation or saying
something and like Dallas was like, let's
just film it just to do it.
And then Rumi's like, no, this
isn't how it would have been.
And so they went back and forth and
eventually just cut it.
And cause he was going to be like, well,
I just want to film this
version too and just try it out.
And when he's like, no,
that isn't what happened.
And like, so I've, so hats off to that.
Cause I thought that was great.
Cause like trying to add like, well, what
if he had just kind of this lighthearted
kind of conversation or said this thing?
It's just like, I don't think that's
something that Jesus would have said
while he's dying on the cross.
And so Dallas is like, so,
you know, I respected that.
And once I saw his point of view and
everything else, I decided, yeah, let's
just not do that at all.
So that's just
something that just popped in.
Yeah, no, that's, that's really cool.
And I, and I like it when, um, I mean,
even biblical content aside, like I just,
I just appreciate as a, as a voice actor,
being able to have a director who you can
communicate and have a voice.
Passionate about the character.
I'm like, and you know, this is a, this
is a real character, no
matter what you believe.
You know, so there's,
there's a source material.
There's, there's a good, yep.
There's a, there's a pretty
good source material out there.
But I think that that's
about all the time we have.
